The Pontifical Catholic
University of Puerto Rico is a private, non-profit
Institution of higher education with close bonds with the
Catholic Church of Puerto Rico. The University was founded
on September 8, 1948 as “Universidad de Santa María”.
The Catholic University of
Puerto Rico was canonically established by the Holy See on
August 1972. In January 1991, its Sacred Congregation on
Catholic Education conferred the Institution its highest
honor: the title of Pontifical. Thus, the
University became the Pontifical Catholic University of
Puerto Rico.
Since then, the University
has grown qualitatively and quantitatively providing its
students with an integrated education that satisfies their
personal, academic and spiritual needs. Presently, the
University has three Campuses. Its Academic offerings
include Associate, Baccalaureate, Masters and Doctoral
Degrees from its five major colleges: Arts and Humanities,
Business, Education, Sciences and Law School.
Institutional
Scholarship
The student body has grown from 192 students in 1948 to over
9,000 in 2006. Today, ninety percent (90%) of the students
enrolled require some type of financial aid or assistance to
continue or conclude their university degree.
Your contribution is
essential in order to continue helping our students with
their educational expenses. By becoming a sponsor of the
16th El Pionero Golf Tournament
you help students
concentrate on their educational goals of becoming
professionals, in different fields of study, by relieving
them of the financial burden which can impede their efforts
to complete a University degree.
