MISSION AND OBJECTIVES

Mission Statement

 

The mission of the Office of External Resources is to support and promote the external funding efforts of PCUPR in a dependable and professional manner by offering technical support in the proposal writing process, ensuring compliance with guidelines, maintaining fiscal accountability, and by offering grant writing and development training to faculty, staff, students and the community.

 

To fulfill its mission the OER efforts focus on the following objectives: 

  • Know the needs and interests of the Institution through the Strategic Plan and meetings.

  • Keep up-to-date in funding opportunities.

  • Identify and distribute information on funding opportunities.

  • Coordinate activities that foster faculty interests and skills in proposal development and writing.

  • Promote policies and procedures that foster the purpose of OER.

  • Provide support services that help faculty and administrators in the development of proposals for  institutional projects.

  • Maintain a record of proposals submitted.

  • Participate in quarterly Grants.gov Webcasts and other federal agencies to keep up-to-date in electronic submission of proposals.

 

Major Activities

 

To fulfill these objectives, the OER offers the following services, which may vary according to the applicant’s needs: 

  • Obtaining and disseminating information regarding funding opportunities that will sustain the Strategic Plan and the University’s Mission

  • Development and administration of needs assessment (as needed)

  • Identification of potential funding sources

  • Maintenance of funding information resource library

  • Process requests for program guidelines, regulations, and application forms for proposals of interest to particular faculty members or administrators

  • Interpretation of funding agencies’ guidelines and ensuring proposal conformity to funding agency and University requirements prior to submission

  • Orientation on the proposal development and writing process

  • Coordination of training and other activities related to proposal development and proposal writing, and related topics

  • Revision, editing, typing and enhancement of proposal drafts

  • Coordination of special projects, such as Title V Collaborative

  • Technical Assistance on progress reports, and on-line submission

  • Workshops and Seminars

  • Providing post-award administration of grants and contracts
